A foreign employee needs two things to work in Indonesia legally: the employer's approved foreign worker plan (RPTKA) from the Ministry of Manpower, and a limited stay permit (KITAS) from Immigration. Since 2 June 2025, expert workers sponsored by a company apply under one unified working visa index, E23.

Documents usually needed
- Passport with sufficient remaining validity
- Recent digital passport photo
- CV plus diplomas or proof of work experience relevant to the position
- Employment contract or appointment letter
- Sponsor company documents: business licence (NIB), deed and tax ID (NPWP)

Questions
Can the employee start working on a visit visa while the permit is processed?
No. Productive work requires the working visa and the stay permit. Visit visas allow activities such as meetings and site visits, but not work.
Which visa index applies to our new hire?
Corporate-sponsored expert workers apply under E23, and some situations have their own sub-index. We confirm the correct index for each person when we review the documents.
