Passport change (permit transfer)

Transfer an active stay permit to a new passport after the passport is renewed, lost or replaced.

When a KITAS holder receives a new passport, the stay permit recorded against the old passport has to be transferred to the new one. Until that is done, travel and some administrative steps can run into problems.

We file the transfer with Immigration and update the permit records, including family members whose permits depend on the main permit.

How we handle it

  1. Tell us

Send us the new passport details as soon as it is issued.

  2. Transfer

We submit the transfer of the stay permit to the new passport.

  3. Update

We update your records and those of any dependants.

Documents usually needed

  • New passport
  • Old passport, or a police report if it was lost
  • Current KITAS details

The exact list depends on the case. We send a checklist for your situation after the first review.

Questions

Can I travel abroad before the transfer is complete?

We recommend waiting until the transfer is finished, because the permit on record is still tied to the old passport. Tell us your travel dates and we will plan around them.

Tell us who is coming and when.

Send the passport and position details on WhatsApp and we reply with the steps, the documents and a schedule.
