Why timing matters
A stay permit that expires while its holder is still in Indonesia is an overstay. Under Article 78 of the Immigration Law (Law No. 6 of 2011), an overstay of up to 60 days is charged a fee, and a longer overstay leads to deportation and an entry ban.
The checklist
Run these checks for every expatriate, well before the expiry date:
- Expiry dates: one list for every employee and every dependant, sorted by date.
- Passport validity: if the passport expires soon, renew it first and transfer the permit to the new passport.
- Sponsor details: confirm the company's documents are current and the position is still covered by the RPTKA.
- Family permits: dependants' permits follow the sponsor's permit, so renew them in the same round.
- Planned exits: if an assignment is ending, plan the EPO instead of a renewal.
How we keep this on schedule
Every permit we handle is recorded in our system with its expiry date, so we contact your team ahead of time and prepare the renewal before it becomes urgent.
